Welcome to our new distributor in Taiwan, Rihsi Fire Protection Co., Ltd.

We are pleased to announce Rihsi Fire Protection Co., Ltd. as our new authorised distributor in Taiwan. This partnership marks an important step in strengthening regional access to proven solutions designed to counter the growing risk of lithium-ion battery fires.

Through this collaboration, customers across Taiwan will benefit from local expertise, faster support, and direct access to advanced fire-suppression technologies engineered specifically for modern battery hazards.

Addressing the Rising Risk of Lithium-Ion Battery Fires

Lithium-ion batteries are now integral to everyday life, powering electric vehicles, e-bikes, scooters, energy storage systems, portable electronics, and industrial equipment. While these batteries deliver high energy density and performance, they also introduce unique and severe fire risks when damaged, overheated, or improperly charged.

Once a lithium-ion battery enters thermal runaway, fires can:

  • Burn at extremely high temperatures

  • Reignite after initial suppression

  • Spread rapidly to adjacent cells or equipment

  • Release toxic and flammable gases

These characteristics mean that traditional fire suppression methods are often insufficient for lithium-ion battery incidents.

Are you prepared for a lithium-ion battery fire?

Preparedness is critical. Having the correct fire-suppression solution in place can mean the difference between a contained incident and a catastrophic escalation.

AVD Fire products are specifically developed to address lithium-ion battery fires at their source, offering a targeted and effective method of control.

How AVD Technology Works

AVD Fire products utilise Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (AVD) technology — a patented, water-based extinguishing agent designed to encapsulate, cool, and contain lithium-ion battery fires.

AVD liquid is discharged through hand-held fire extinguishers, sized appropriately for the level of risk and the environment in which batteries are used or stored.

When applied to a lithium-ion battery fire:

  • Fine vermiculite particles are delivered within a controlled mist

  • These particles settle on the surface of the burning fuel

  • A protective film forms almost instantly on top of the fire

As the film dries, overlapping vermiculite platelets bond together to create a robust oxygen-excluding barrier between the fire and the surrounding atmosphere.

Cooling, Containment, and Fire Control

In addition to oxygen starvation, AVD provides a vital cooling effect on the fuel source. As the water component of the agent evaporates, vermiculite platelets continue to accumulate, reinforcing the barrier and suppressing heat transfer.

This dual action:

  • Reduces the temperature of the battery cells

  • Slows or halts thermal runaway propagation

  • Minimises the risk of re-ignition

The result is rapid fire control, even in scenarios where conventional extinguishing agents struggle.

Supporting Fire Safety Across Taiwan

By working closely with Rihsi Fire Protection Co., Ltd., we aim to support fire safety professionals, facility managers, transport operators, and industrial users across Taiwan with locally available, internationally proven solutions.
